Queerying Nature Leonor Palmeira & Aline Magrez

Although the sexual world of animals is generally examined through glasses that deliver an enclosing binarity, where the male and the female have sex only to reproduce, "Queering nature" explodes these concepts of sexuality, sex, gender, and families trough the discovery of an infinely plural animal word. The film is an ode to the impressive and moving diversity that nature offers.

Trough the open-minded and enlightened gaze of biology professor Joan Roughgarden, the project will explore the animal world in terms of sexual, gender or family behaviors that contradict conventional wisdom. As a transgender person, Joan embodies the whole subject of the film. This endearing character, whose humor and kindness are communicative, inhabits the film.
